Each year The Home Depot holds the Creative Hive; an event connecting and inspiring internal creative teams. At this conference there are speakers who teach, inspire and help the team spark their creativity. This year I was given the opportunity to compete to design the year’s theme. While my design was ultimately not chosen it did make it all the way to the final round before the selection committee.

The idea was to utilize the bee and create a unique logo that captures the essence of the conference. Since the conference was by creatives, for creatives, I felt the tools used on a day to day basis was a common connection between the entire team. I created the bee using a representation of the handles familiar to designers that you would find using the pen tool in most common design software programs. Additional parts of the design challenge was to create a design that could be used across multiple touch points such as stickers, power point backgrounds, notecards, hats and more.
